Sage falls to Potsdam in men's soccer play

Potsdam, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team traveled to Potsdam State on Saturday afternoon for a non-conference match-up with the Bears. Potsdam State collected a 4-1 win to improve to 2-1-1, while Sage drops to 0-3.

Potsdam took a 1-0 lead as Matt Saddlemire scored on a pass from Teddy Bruschini at the 18:28 mark. Sage collected a tying goal at 40:31 as sophomore Jeaneste Pierre (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) scored his first of the season on a feed from sophomore Nate Franchi (Schenectady, NY/Colonie).

The Bears took a 2-1 lead in the second half as Jhonny Mendoza converted the penalty kick and by game's end, would add two more goals en route to the 4-1 final score.

Sage's senior keeper Michael Chiaravalloti (Torrington, CT/Oliver Wolcott) came up six saves in the contest as the Bears racked up 22 shots in the contest.

Sage returns to action on Sunday, September 9 travelling to Clarkson for a 1 p.m. contest.
