Men's soccer falls to Plattsburgh, 1-0

Albany, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the Cardinals of Plattsburgh State on Tuesday night at ACP Field in a non-conference match-up.  The Cardinals collected the 1-0 road win over Sage to improve to 1-2, while the Gators drop to 0-2.

Plattsburgh held a 1-0 lead as senior forward Chris Robertson (Thiells, NY/St. Joseph Regional) tallied his first goal of the year on a feed from junior Jimmy Marchena (Massapequa, NY/Massapequa) at the 12:12 mark as he crossed the ball from the center from about 20 yards out to Robertson. Robertson shot the ball to the back right corner of the goal for the first score of the match.

Late in the second half, Sage's rookie Kevin Winglosky (Schodack, NY/Ichabod Crane) had a shot that was on net and Plattsburgh's sophomore Ryan Wilson (Poughkeepsie, NY/Arlington) keeper made the diving save at 4:33 to keep the Gators off the scoreboard. With time waning, a foul was called on Plattsburgh and Sage's senior forward River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) took a direct kick at the top of the box at 2:43 but Wilson came up with the big save.

Sage's last shot on goal came at 1:06 as a foul was called near midfield and Sage's senior keeper Michael Chiaravalloti (Torrington, CT/Oliver Wolcott) came up and served the ball into the goal area and the Cardinal defense was able to keep the ball away from the net.

On the game, Wilson made eight saves in earning the shutout victory and is now 1-2. Chiaravalloti  finished with six saves in the loss.
