Empire 8 Taps River Seybolt as Offensive Player of the Week

Rochester, NY- The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team was honored on Monday with the release of the Empire 8 Players of the Week and junior forward River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week. Seybolt added three goals and an assist on the week to lead Sage in a 1-1 week. Sage stands at 8-5-2 overall and 3-2-1 in the Empire 8.

Seybolt's week included two school career records being broken as well. On Wednesday, October 18, he scored a goal in the match-up at Ithaca. The goal against Ithaca broke the program's record for most career goals. Three days, later, he added his name to the Sage career point record in the team's 3-0 win over Alfred University in conference play.

Against the Saxons, he collected two second half goals to lift Sage to the key road win. In the process, Seybolt also added his name to the Sage career point record. He surpassed the Sage career point mark, which was 82 points and was held by Gustavo Trinidad (2011-2014) on 25 goals and 32 assists. Seybolt has 86 points on 38 goals with 10 assists, including a program-best 13 career game-winning goals.

On the season, he has 14 goals this fall and a team-best 31 points. He leads the Empire 8 in almost every single offensive category as he is first in points (31, 2.07 per game), 1st in goals (.933 per game), as well as shots with 75 and a 5.0 per game average, while standing tied for first with his four game-winning goals on the fall. With the release of the latest NCAA Division III statistics, Seybolt is also nationally ranked in seven categories. He is No. 5 in Division III with his 5.0 shots per game average, while standing 35th in both total goals and goals per game average, He is also 25th with his shots on goal per game average (2.36), while ranking 47th in points per game average. He is also 51st in total points and 77th in game-winning goals this fall.

Next up for the Gators, they will host Elmira College on October 27 at 7 p.m. at ACP's Athletic Complex as they will honor their 2017 seniors prior to the action in conjunction with Senior Night.
