Seybolt ties career goal scoring record as Fairweather scores twice in 3-2 win

Annandale-On-Hudson, NY- Sage's men's soccer team travelled to Bard College on Wednesday night for a non-conference contest.  Sage collected the teams' fifth straight win as they beat Bard, 3-2. With the win, Sage improves to 7-3 overall, while Bard drops to 3-6-1.

Sage lead at the half 1-0 as junior defender Ryan Fairweather (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) scored the goal on a header at 26:55. The goal came on a pass from junior defender James Lagunas (Passaic, NJ/Passaic County Tech Institute) for his first goal of the season.  Fairweather added his second goal of the night off a corner kick on a pass from senior midfielder Kevin Saar (Binghamton, NY/Windsor Central) off a corner kick at 59:16.

The Gators took a 3-0 lead when junior forward River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) collected his 11th goal of the year on a shot from 20 yards out at 81:18.  Seybolt leads the Gators with his 23 points on 11 goals and two assists this fall and is now tied for the career goal scoring mark at Sage and shares the honor with Scott Jarosz (2010-2013, 35 goals) as the program's all-time goal scoring leader with 35 goals. Seybolt is also now No. 2 all-time in total points with 79 points on 35 goals with nine assists.

Bard's junior Mick Schenberger scored at 82:41 to put the Raptors on the scoreboard and break up Sage's shutout bid. Minutes later, he struck again to pull Bard within striking distance with his second goal of the night and seventh of the season as Bard scored at 86:47.

Gator junior keeper Michael Chiaravalloti's (Torrington, CT/Oliver Wolcott) collected the win with eight saves, while Bard's Taylor Bond finished with  10 saves in the match.

Next up for the Gators, they will travel to Stevens Institute of Technology for an Empire 8 match-up with the Ducks as the Sage men's team plays the program's 150th contest. Kickoff is at 1 p.m. in Hoboken, NJ.
