Seybolt strikes twice as Gator ease past Blazers, 4-0

Albany, NY- The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the Blazers of Elms College on Wednesday afternoon in a non-conference match and junior forward River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) scored two goals including the game-winner to lift Sage to the 4-0 win. Sage improves to 3-3 on the season, while Elms drops to 1-6.

Seybolt put Sage on the scoreboard at 12:37 on a pass from senior Derlis Zayas (White Plains, NY/White Plains). Less than six minutes later, senior midfielder Paul Reynoso (Fulton, NY/G. Ray Bodley) scored on a break-away for his first goal of the season off the feed from Zayas.  Seybolt added his second goal of the season at 22:22 and now leads the Gators with his 13 points on seven goals and an assist. He continues his climb on the program's all-time scoring list as he now has 68 career points, which is third best all-time, while he ranks second with his 30 career goals, including 11 game-winners.

Rookie Jeaneste Pierre (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) wrapped the scoring on the day with his second goal of the season on a pass from senior defender Joe Diano (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay) at 40:29.

Zayas now has 34 career points and is the seventh all-time scorer as well for Sage's men's soccer team.

Gator junior keeper Michael Chiaravalloti's (Torrington, CT/Oliver Wolcott) shared in the shutout win with rookie keeper Jonathan Allen (Fort Ann, NY/Fort Ann) as they posted the team's second shutout of the season. Elms' freshman keeper Julian Brosi (West Newbury, MA) took the loss, dropping to 0-4 in net after making nine saves in the match.

Next up for the Gators, they will travel to Houghton College for a 2 p.m. empire 8 match on September 23, while Elms College hosts Mitchell College on Saturday at 2 p.m.
