Sage men's soccer among national stats leaders for the 2016 campaign

Indianapolis, IN –With the release of the final NCAA Division III Men's Soccer statistics for the 2016 season, The Sage Colleges' team and several players were ranked for their outstanding performances this past fall. The Gators posted a 7-8-5 mark on the season with a 5-5-1 showing in the Skyline Conference after advancing the league tournament's championship match, only to fall in overtime. Rookie Head Coach Keith Simon's team finished nationally ranked 12 team categories for the 2016 campaign.

            Sophomore forward River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood), who was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America NCAA Division III Men's All-East Regional Third Team as well as the 2016 Skyline Conference All-Star First Team, earned acclaim for his second season and ranked nationally in seven different categories.

            Seybolt, last season's Skyline Rookie of the Year, recorded a team-high 32 points on 15 goals and two assists. In addition to four honor roll mentions, the forward was named the Skyline week eight Co-Player of the Week when he buried his first career hat trick in a must-win 4-1 triumph over St. Joseph's – Long Island. The sophomore ranked nationally in total goals (No. 30, 15), total points (No. 46, 32), points per game average (No. 73, 1.6), game-winning goals (No. 140, 3), shots-on-goal per game (9th, 2.9), and shots per game (28th, 4.65).

            Only halfway through his career at Sage, Seybolt has already etched his name in the Gator record book. The forward ranks in first in single-game goals (three vs. St. Joseph's – Long Island, 2016), first in single-season penalty kicks (four, 2016), second in career game-winners (nine), second in career penalty kicks (four), second in single-season goals (15, 2016), second in single-season points (32, 2016), second in single-season game-winners (six, 2015), second in single-game points (six vs. St. Joseph's – Long Island, 2016), third in career goals (24), third in career points (55), seventh in single-game assists (two vs. Mount Saint Vincent, 2015), 8th in career assists (seven) and ninth in single-season assists (five, 2015).

            Junior goal keeper Caelen Kohut (Ancram, NY/Hudson), whose 2016 season was cut short with an injury finished the year ranking 182nd in goals against average after playing in 11 games with a 1.33 GAA.
