2016 Skyline All-Conference Release
NEW YORK – Sage sophomore River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) and junior Paul Reynoso (Oswego, NY/G. Ray Bodley) were both named 2016 Skyline All-Conference Selections Monday afternoon.
Seybolt, last season's Skyline Rookie of the Year, was tapped to the first-team after recording a team-high 32 points on 15 goals and two assists. In addition to four honor roll mentions, the forward was named the Skyline week eight Co-Player of the Week when he buried his first career hat trick in a must-win 4-1 triumph over St. Joseph's – Long Island. Seybolt ranked second in the conference in shots/game (4.65), shots (93), points and goals behind Skyline Player of the Year, U.S. Merchant Marine's (USMMA) Gavin Yingling. The sophomore currently ranks nationally in shots-on-goal/game (9th, 2.9), shots/game (29th, 4.65) and goals (29th).
Only halfway through his career at Sage, Seybolt has already etched his name in the Gator record book. The forward ranks in 1st in single-game goals (three vs. St. Joseph's – Long Island, 2016), 1st in single-season penalty kicks (four, 2016), 2nd in career game-winners (nine), 2nd in career penalty kicks (four), 2nd in single-season goals (15, 2016), 2nd in single-season points (32, 2016), 2nd in single-season game-winners (six, 2015), 2nd in single-game points (six vs. St. Joseph's – Long Island, 2016), 3rd in career goals (24), 3rd in career points (55), 7th in single-game assists (two vs. Mount Saint Vincent, 2015), 8th in career assists (seven) and 9th in single-season assists (five, 2015).
Reynoso was tapped to the Skyline Second-Team on a six point, four assists, one goal season. The junior captain recorded a season-high three points with one goal and one assist in a 6-0 win at Purchase. Reynoso led Sage with four assists on the season. With one season left in his career, the midfielder ranks 4th in career assists (12), 8th in career points (26) and 9th in single-season assists (five, 2015).
Julian Rodriguez ranks No. 21 nationally with 120 saves in his freshman campaign, while Michael Rodriguez ranked fourth and fifth in the Skyline with a .788 save percentage and 1.57 goals against average, respectively. Rounding out the conference honors was USMMA's Michael Smolens as the Coach of the Year. A 1984 graduate of Springfield College, Smolens has now won 10 Skyline Conference Coach of the Year honors in his career, and has been named NSCAA Regional Coach of the Year on two occasions (2002, '04)
Yingling's Player of the Year honor comes after ranking 8th nationally with 20 goals and 19th in goals/game (2.21). The forward scored the game-winning goal in the Skyline Championship final against Sage in the 99th minute. Mount Saint Mary's Tyler Biscone was tapped as the Skyline Defensive Player of the Year after leading the Knights to a conference-high seven shutouts and 1.14 goals-against-average. Locking-in Skyline Co-Rookie of the Year were goalies Julian Rodriguez of St. Joseph's- Brooklyn and Michael Rodriguez of SUNY-Maritime.
Sage finished the season as the Skyline Championship Runner-Ups after a 7-8-5 season in Keith Simons' first season as head coach.
