Gators Playoff Bound

YONKERS, NY – River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) scored two goals in Sage's must-win 3-0 triumph over Sarah Lawrence Wednesday night to lock-in the six seed for the Skyline Championship.

Seybolt put the Gators up 1-0 in the 11th minute off an Alex Lanza (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill). The sophomore netted his second goal six minutes later off a Kevin Saar (Binghamton, NY/Windor Central) corner kick to put Sage (7-7-3, 5-5-1 Skyline) up 2-0.

The Gators outshot Sarah Lawrence 15-2 over the next 83 minutes until Sage's Juan Victoria (Ellenville, NY/Ellenville) scored off a James Fitzpatrick (Stony Brook, NY/Ward Melvine) assist in the 90th minute.

Sage's Mike Chiaravalloti (Torrington, CT/Oliver Wolcot) (4-2) was credited with the win on a three save effort while Sarah Lawrence's (4-13, 0-11 Skyline) Mehran Hicks (4-13) picked up the loss with 10 saves. Seybolt led the game with five shots followed by Derlis Zayas White Plains, NY/White Plains) and Heriberto Gomez (Valatie, NY/Ichabod Crane) with three each.

The Gators recorded their fifth shutout of the season with the help of Chiaravalloti in goal and Joe Diano (Hopewell Junction, NY/John Jay), Nathan Ficht (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill), Anthony Williamson (Beacon, NY/Beacon) and Ryan Fairweather (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) on the defensive line.

Seybolt's performance moves him into third in career points (53) and career goals (23).

Sage begins the Skyline Playoffs Saturday, October 29 at #3 SUNY-Old Westbury. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
