Seybolt Tapped as Co-Skyline Men’s Soccer Player of the Week

Week 8 Skyline Release

NEW YORK – Sage's River Seybolt (Selden, NY/Longwood) was named the week 8 Skyline Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week after being on the honor roll three times this year.

Seybolt netted his first career hat trick in a must-win 4-1 triumph over St. Joseph's – Long Island Saturday night to keep Sage's playoff hopes alive.

After only two years at Sage, Seybolt has already etched his name into the Gator record book. He currently sits first in single-season penalty kick goals (4), second in career game-winning goals (8), second in career penalty kick goals (4), second in single-season goals (12), third in career points (49), third in career goals (21), third in single-season points (26) and eighth in career assists (7). In addition, the sophomore also ranks nationally in shots-on-goal/game and shots/game.

Seybolt currently leads the 2016 squad in goals (12), goals/game (.90), points (26), points/game (1.90), shots/game (4.90), shots (71), shots-on-goal (44), shots-on-goal/game (3.10), penalty kicks (four) and game-winning goals (two). Joining Seybolt as statistical leaders for the Gators are Paul Reynoso (Oswego, NY/G. Ray Bodley) (four assists, .50 assists/game), Derlis Zayas (White Plains, NY/White Plains) (.222 shot percentage) and Lai Le (Walnut, CA/Walnut) (.800 shots-on-goal percentage).

Joining Seybolt as the Skyline Co-Player of the Week is U.S. Merchant Marine's (USMMA) Gavin Yingling for his third Player of the Week honor. Yingling netted a hat trick of his own in a 3-0 win over Mount Saint Mary to secure the one seed for the Mariners. Garnering the week 8 Rookie of the Week was SUNY-Old Westbury's Chris Agbodoh. The forward scored a pair of goals in Old Westbury's 3-1 win over Farmingdale and added one goal in a 4-1 win over Sarah Lawrence.

Locking in the two seed in the Skyline is Mount Saint Mary with 27 points. Following the Knights are Old Westbury, Farmingdale State and St. Joseph's – Long Island with 22, 21 and 18 points respectively.

Fighting for the sixth and final playoff spot are Mount Saint Vincent and Sage with 15 and 13 points respectively. In order for Sage to earn sixth place, the Gators have to win their next game against Sarah Lawrence Wednesday night. If they do, they need one of two scenarios. First, if Mount Saint loses to Maritime on Wednesday, Sage would have sole possession of 6th place. Second, if Mount Saint Vincent and Maritime tie, they would be tied with Sage with 16 points apiece. However, Sage holds the tie breaker and would advance to the playoffs. Kickoff between Mount Saint Vincent and Maritime is set for 4 p.m. with Sage and Sarah Lawrence starting at 7 p.m.
