Key penalty kicks propels Gators past Maritime in men's soccer action

THROGGS NECK, NY – Peter Fabrykiewcz scored the game winning goal against Maritime in a 1-0 conference win Friday night.

River Seybolt made the first strike of the game with a shot that went high from 25 yards out.

Maritime went on the offensive in the 7th minute when Billy Horgan teed off a shot from far out before Sage goalie TJ Zehner game up with his first save of the game.

Sage got off six unanswered shots before halftime.

Sage outshot Maritime 3-2 before Fabrykiewicz found the back of the net on a penalty kick in the 68th minute. Maritime was issued a red card on the foul that drew the penalty and was forced to play with ten men the rest of the game.

Even with ten men, Maritime continued to press forward, outshooting Sage 3-2 in the last 23 minutes, but Sage held on to win 1-0.

Zehner recoreded his fifth shutout of the season, a Skyline Conference best. The senior recorded four saves to Maritime's Karl Weber's eight.

Fabrykiewicz now has three goals on the season.

Sage is hosting Skyline reigning champion Purchase College at Lansingburgh High School for the "Flood the Swamp with White Night." Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
