Teran's first half goal propels Sage past Purchase

The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted Purchase College on Wednesday evening in a Skyline Conference match held at the Plumeri Sports Complex. The Gators tallied a 1-0 win to improve to 8-3-2 overall and 6-0-1 in the league, while Purchase drops to 7-4-2 overall and 4-1-1 in the Skyline.

Sage took a 1-0 lead at the half sophomore midfielder Luis Teran (Farmingville, NY/Newfield) converted the feed from the left side on a corner kick from sophomore Sean Lanza (Poughkeepsie, NY/Spackenkill) at the 43:42 mark of the match. The goal was the third of the season for Teran.

Sage's sophomore keeper TJ Zehner (Beacon, NY/Beacon) made his 2013 debut after missing the team's first 12 games with an injury. He made four saves en route to the shutout win, the sixth of the year for the Gators. Purchase's sophomore goalie Esteban Aguilar (East Hampton, NY) picked up eight saves in the loss.

The Gators are back in action on October 19 hosting NYU-Poly in a 3 p.m. Skyline Conference contest in conjunction with Gator Pride Day and Senior Day. The Gators will honor their six seniors, the first four-year letterwinners in the program's history in conjunction with the activities. Purchase College will host Maritime College on October 19 in a noon Skyline Conference contest.
