Sage drops 1-0 decision to King's

Troy, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team hosted the Monarchs of King's College (PA) on Sunday afternoon at Renwyck Field in a non-conference match. The Monarchs used a first half goal to tally the 1-0 win and improve to 2-1-1 on the year. The loss puts Sage at 1-2-1.

After a hard foul in the box, King's junior midfielder Niall Croke (Monroe, NY/Burke Catholic) was awarded a penalty kick, which he made at the 10:00 minute mark of the match. Both teams had chances, including a shot at the 86:34 mark by Sage's junior midfielder Jose Miranda (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore), which King's senior goalie Mark Labbadia (Middletown, CT/Xavier) made a diving save to stop and propel his team to the shutout win.

Croke leads the Monarchs in scoring this fall with five points on two goals and an assist.

Labbadia finished with four saves on the afternoon en route to his second shutout of the year. Sage's senior keeper Tim Madden (Watertown, NY/Watertown) recorded three saves in the action.

Sage returns to action on September 11 travelling to Southern Vermont College for a 4 p.m. non-conference match, while King's College will face Juniata College on September 14 at 3:30 p.m. on the road.
