Albany, NY – The Sage Colleges' men's soccer team will be taking to the field for the fourth season when the Gators step on the field for the 2013 season. At the helm of the men's soccer program at Sage is Kyle Clancy. The 2012 team captured the Eastern College Athletic Conference Upstate (ECAC) Division III Championship after the Gators went 14-5-1. The team set school records for most wins in a row (12) and most wins in a season (14) along the way.
Clancy boasts a 32-22-3 record in his three years at Sage and the Gators have appeared in the Skyline Conference Tournament in each of his previous three campaigns, while also earning bids to the ECAC Tournament in the last two seasons.
The 2013 Gators will take to the field for 17 regular-season contests with hopes of garnering the 2013 Skyline Conference Champion and the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Championship. Sage will be home for eight of those 17 matches and opens the campaign on Friday, August 30 hosting the Wildcats of SUNY-IT at 4 p.m. at nearby Colonie High School (Albany, NY). The 2013 schedule also boasts matches with area foes such as Skidmore College (at Skidmore, Sept. 6 at 4 p.m.), Union College (Home on Sept. 17 at 8:30 p.m. at Saint Rose's Plumeri Complex, Albany, NY), and at Southern Vermont College (Sept. 11 at 4 p.m.).
The Gators will host Skyline Conference opponents SUNY-Old Westbury (Oct. 1, 7:30 p.m., Colonie High School), Yeshiva University (Oct. 6, 1 p.m., Albany College of Pharmacy Field), Mt. St. Mary College (Oct. 9, 8:30 p.m. Saint Rose's Plumeri Complex), Purchase College (Oct. 16 at 8:15 p.m. at Saint Rose's Plumeri Complex), and NYU-Poly on Oct. 19 at Albany College of Pharmacy's Field in a 3 p.m. contest. The contest on October 19 will be Sage's Senior Day and Sage's Gator Pride Day.
Last year's Sage men's soccer program was ranked nationally in several categories. They were No. 46 in both win percentage (.725) and team goals against average (0.84), while ranking No. 33 in saves percentage (.837). Offensively, Sage was ranked No. 51 in total goals (47) and No. 54 in total offense (2.35), while also ranking 62nd in total points (125) and No. 80 in total assists (31).
