A member of Sage's inaugural team in 2010, Matt Flaherty is a returning letterwinner. He etched his name into the record book after connecting on the very first goal in program history in Sage's first win as they defeated Wells College, 3-2 in 2010.
He finished the 2010 season with one goal and one assist for three points in 15 games played. As a sophomore, he played in 20 games and was part of the Gators' defense that recorded 6 shutouts.
As a junior, he played in 15 games with one goal on the season. He aided in the Gators’ ECAC Championship run and is now a three-year letterwinner having played in 50 games with two goals and one assists for five points.
He is a graduate of Comsewogue High School, where he was an all-league honoree as a senior. He was part of the 2008 and 2009 New York State Championship Team as a junior and senior.
He is majoring in physical education at Sage and is the son of William and Michelle Flaherty. He is also active on campus with the Chompers’ Reading program as well a number of community service activities having also volunteered his time to the Albany Ronald McDonald House.
