Sage falls to NYU-Poly in Skyline play, 2-1

Glenmont, NY---The Sage College hosted the Fighting Blue Jays of NYU-Poly on Saturday afternoon at the rain soaked Bethlehem Soccer Plex. NYU-Poly earned the 2-1 conference win to improve to 3-6-2 overall and 3-1 in the league, while Sage falls to 6-5-1 overall and 2-2 in the conference.

NYU-Poly struck first as senior defender Joe Gabor (Warwick, NY/Warwick Valley) converted a penalty kick at 5:45 in the first half. Rookie Andres Torres (Weston, FL/Cypress Bay) converted a feed from senior Adam Lakawicz (Butler, NJ/Butler) at 10:36 in what would be the game-winner.

Sage pulled within one goal as sophomore Chris Peralta (Wyandanch, NY/Martin Luther King, Jr.) made his penalty kick at 16:23 for his second goal of the season. Sage had several opportunities to tie the match, including a shot by junior Bruce Pavlus (Fonda, NY/Home Schooled) that just missed the top of the goal and would have tied the contest in the final half minute of the game.

NYU-Poly's rookie Brendan Finn (New Canaan, CT/New Canaan) earned the win after making six saves on the day. Sage's freshman goalie Trevor Paddy (Brooklyn, NY/Jamaica) made three saves and drops to 3-2 on the fall.
