Yonkers, NY--- The Sage College trounced the Dolphins of the College of Mount Saint Vincent in men's soccer action on Wednesday afternoon, 8-0. Sage's sophomore defender Nick Mauro (Bristol, CT/Bristol Central) erupted for three goals to pace the team in the Skyline Conference match. Sage improves to 6-4-1 overall and 2-1 in the league. The loss drops Mount Saint Vincent to 1-3 overall on the season and to 1-1 in Skyline Conference play.

Sage got on the board with the eventual game winner in the 15th minute when Mauro scored his first of three goals on the day. He took a pass off a restart and skipped the ball inside the far post for an early 1-0.

The Gators would go on to score two more times in the opening 45 minutes and then exploded for five tallies in the second half to cruise to the victory. Mauro was one of three multi-goal scorers on the day for Sage, with sophomore midfielder Evan Southworth (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) and freshman Jose Miranda (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) each scoring a pair for the visitors.

Overall Sage had six players with at least one point on the day. Mauro led the way with six points overall, while sophomore Chris Peralta (Wyandanch, NY/Martin Luther King, Jr.) closed out a four point effort on Wednesday with four helpers, a new standard for assists in a contest.

Sage's freshman goalie Trevor Paddy (Brooklyn, NY/Jamaica) made two saves and shared time in goal with sophomore Cory Gransbury (Round Top, NY/Cairo-Durham) in earning the team's fourth shutout of the fall. CMSV's Matt Calandrillo (Cold Spring, N.Y.) made nine saves for the Dolphins, including six in the second half for the Dolphins.

For the game, Mount Saint Vincent was outshot 26-4 overall, including 15-1 in the second half. The Gators also took all nine corner kicks in the match and fouls were called 10 apiece.

Sage will take to the pitch again on Saturday, October 1 hosting NYU-Poly in a 3:30 p.m. Skyline Conference match at the Bethlehem SoccerPlex (Glenmont, NY).
