Gator booters set scoring mark in 9-0 win over Yeshiva

Glenmont, NY---Sage hosted the Maccabees of Yeshiva University on Sunday afternoon at the Bethlehem SoccerPlex in a Skyline Conference match. Sage tallied an impressive 9-0 victory to improve to 4-1-1 overall and 1-0 in the league, while Yeshiva drops to 0-3 overall and in the conference.

The Gators led 3-0 at the half but connected on six second-half goals en route to the convincing win and along the way established a new standard for team goals in a contest. In their first varsity season in 2010, Sage hit six goals in a game twice and broke that with their high-scoring performance on Sunday.

Sage got on the scoreboard early as sophomore midfielder Wesley Finch (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) tallied what would be the game-winner at 8:19. He tallied a goal and two assists on the day and now has a pair of game-winners, as well as four goals as well as four assists for 12 points this fall, which is second best on the squad.

Rookie midfielder Gustavo Trinidad (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) tallied five points on two goals and an assist and has overtaken the scoring race with 13 points.

Among the many leaders on Sunday for Sage was sophomore defender Kris Kallenbach (Bristol, CT/Bristol Central) tallied a pair of goals as Sage outshot Yeshiva 53-3 in the match.

Sharing the shutout win, the second of the year for Sage were rookie Trevor Paddy (Brooklyn, NY/Jamaica) and sophomore Cory Gransbury (Round Top, NY/Cairo-Durham).  Yeshiva's Adrian Gucouschi (Miami, FL) and Joseph Blechner (Brookline, MA) shared in the action as they racked up 24 saves on the day.

Sage will take to the pitch again on Wednesday, September 14 travelling to Southern Vermont College for a 4:30 p.m. non-conference match.
