WSU Owls top Sage, 3-2 in men's soccer play

Glenmont, NY---The Owls of Westfield State University rallied from a 2-0 deficit to collect a 3-2 road win over the Gators of Sage College. Junior midfielder Jon Principato (Stoneham, MA/Stoneham) tallied the game-winner to help the Owls improve to 3-1. Sage drops to 3-0-1 on the year.

Sage led 2-0 at the half as sophomore midfielder Wesley Finch (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) tallied his second and third goals of the season on a pair of break-aways at 16:09 and 20:46.

WSU's offense exploded for three goals in a five minute span to overtake the Gators. Junior Bill Reagan (Oak Bluffs, MA/Martha's Vineyard) converted a pass off a corner kick from senior Josh Severns (Suffield, CT/Suffield) at 26:38 in the season half.  Senior Nick Gale (Cheshire, MA/Hoosac Valley) on a pass from Jared Spicer (Carver, MA/Carver) at 22:12. Eighteen second later, Pricipato capitalized on a feed from Justin Laliberte (Easthampton, MA/Easthampton) to snap the 2-2 tie and give the Owls their first lead of the match.

WSU's sophomore Kris Carrington (Agawam, MA/Agawam) made the start and played the first half in goal with a pair of goals allowed and four saves. At the break, rookie Keith Hevey (Chicopee, MA/Chicopee) entered the game and came away with his first collegiate win as he made one save with no goals allowed in his 45 minutes of work.

Sage's sophomore Tim Madden (Watertown, NY/Watertown) suffered the loss with three goals allowed and four saves.
