Box Score

Annandale-on-the-Hudson, NY---The Sage Colleges men's soccer team collected a 2-1 win in Bard College on Wednesday evening in a non-conference match. Sage's rookie Jose Miranda (Bay Shore, NY/Bay Shore) racked up the game-winner at 67:20 to break a 1-1 tie and propel the Gators to the win. Sage improves to 3-0-1 on the fall, while Bard is now 0-3 on the fall.

The Gators dominated play in the first half, only to see Bard take a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute off a blast from junior Ammar Al-Rubaiay (Baghdad, Iraq) that found the upper right corner. The assist went to senior Jacob Hartog (San Francisco, CA).

Although possession was more even in the second half, Sage got the equalizer in the 61st minute when sophomore Evan Southworth (Newburgh, NY)/Newburgh Free Academy) headed in a cross from sophomore Chris Peralta (Wyandanch, NY/Martin Luther King, Jr) and rookie midfielder Gustavo Trinidad (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) off a short corner. About seven minutes later, Miranda banged the eventual game-winner in off the post after a shot by sophomore Wesley Finch (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) was deflected by a Bard defender to Miranda.

With four minutes left, freshman Yu Sung Eo (Mussoorie, India) saw his shot bounce off the top of the crossbar, and with a minute left, a header from Hartog dribbled wide.

Trinidad leads the Gators with his four assists in four games, which has already established a new mark for the program for single-season assists and now has eight points thus far. Miranda has two goals on the young season and is second in scoring with his six points.

Sage's sophomore Tim Madden (Watertown, NY/Watertown) collected the win on goal with one save on the night and is now 2-0-1 on the fall. Bard's Deven Connelly (High Falls, NY) recorded eight saves in suffering the loss. Sage outshot Bard on the night, 19-7.

Sage will take to the pitch again on Saturday hosting Westfield State University in a 1 p.m. non-conference match at the Bethlehem SoccerPlex.
