Finch's goal lifts Sage to OT win over Colby-Sawyer

Utica, NY---The Sage Colleges men's soccer team collected a 4-3 win in overtime over Colby-Sawyer College in the consolation game of the Utica College Invitational. Sage's sophomore midfielder Wesley Finch (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) delivered the game-winner in the first period of overtime to lift the Gators to the win. Sage improves to 2-0-1 on the year, while Colby Sawyer drops to 0-2.

The contest was a high-scoring affair as there were seven goals netted between the two clubs, including the first goal of the match as Sage capitalized on a Colby-Sawyer defensive error and got on the board with an own goal.

By game's end, Sage's rookie midfielder Gustavo Trinidad (Mamaroneck, NY/Mamaroneck) handed out three assists in the game, a Sage single-game record. He also tied the season performance for most assists in season. He has taken and early lead in the Sage scoring race with seven points.

Scoring for the Gators was sophomore Chris Catania (Newburgh, NY/Newburgh Free Academy) as well as junior defender Bruce Pavlus (Fonda, NY/Home Schooled). The Gators have already erupted for nine goals in three contest this season.

Sage's sophomore Tim Madden (Watertown, NY/Watertown) collected his first career win as he had six saves.

Sage will take to the pitch again on Wednesday as they travel to Bard College for a non-conference match. Opening kick is set for 7 p.m.
