Gators shine on Senior Day, besting Keuka 15-11

Albany, NY – Russell Sage College's men's lacrosse team hosted Keuka College on Saturday afternoon in conjunction with Senior Day. The Gators delivered a 15-11 victory over the Wolves to wrap the season on a high note. For the year, RSC went 6-11 overall and 2-5 in the Empire 8. Keuka finishes the season at 6-7 overall and 1-6 in the league.

 RSC had eight different players finish in the scoring action and were paced by the play of rookie attackman Nate Kettle (Killbuck, NY/Salamanca) who finished with six goals, including four in the first half as RSC led 7-4 at the intermission.

Senior middie Anthony Abreu (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township) tallied a goal with four assists. He had three assists in the first half. Graduate performers Bailey Martin (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central) and Shea Obado (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) each added two goals and an assist in the action.

Rookie goalie Andrew Collora (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) recorded 13 saves in the contest to close his first year on a winning note.

The Gators wrap their 2023 season on Saturday in conjunction with their Senior Day. Saturday's game marked the final contest for six performers including two Gators that were members of the inaugural men's team in 2019.

Graduate performers Bailey Martin and Shea Obado first appeared for the Gators in 2019 and after today's action have helped to establish numerous program records, while seniors Sean McGirr (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties), Anthony Abreu, Jacob Peck (Albany, NY/Guilderland), and graduate player Jonathan Vil (Montgomery, NY/Valley Central) all made their own impact on the program.

Martin holds the record for most points (139), goals (90), assists (49), games started (44), Man-up Goals (12), game-winning goals (3), while ranking 7th in ground balls (81), 7th in caused turnovers (23), and 2nd games played (44).

Obado holds the program high-water marks for the most caused turnovers (55), most ground balls (216), most career games played (59). He ranks in career points (3rd, 88), career goals (3rd, 57), career assists (4th, 31), man-up goals (3rd, 9) , and third in career starts (37).

Abreu stands second all-time with his 106 points, while ranking second in career goals (71), third in career assists (35), second in man-up goals (10), tied for first with Martin for career game-winning goals (3), tied for fourth with 40 games played and second with 40 career starts.

McGirr ranks fifth in career ground balls (87), sixth in career caused turnovers (24), third in career games played (42), as well as ninth in face-off win percentage.

Peck stands seventh with his 24 career starts, while ranking third in games played with McGirr (42). He finishes his time fourth in ground balls (97), and third in caused turnovers (44).

Vill, a four-year letterwinner, appeared in 14 games over his career.
