Gators Use Big First Half to Defeat Castleton

ALBANY, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College outscored visiting Castleton 11-3 in the first half of tonight's 14-6 non-conference home victory.

Attacker Bailey Martin (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central), a graduate student, who was selected the Co-Empire 8 Conference Player of the Week on Monday, topped all participants with five points on three goals and two assists.

Freshman attacker Nate Kettle (Killbuck, NY/Salamanca) added four goals, while senior attacker Anthony Abreu (Monroe, NJ / Monroe Township) netted three.

Freshman goalkeeper Andrew Collora (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) made 16 saves, a season-high, to earn the win (4-6). It marked the fifth time this spring that the rookie recorded double-digit saves.

Freshman attacker Ian Edgar (Scotia, NY) and junior attacker Cam Frankenhoff led Castleton (1-5), now losers of four in-a-row, with two goals apiece.

Looking ahead, RSC (4-6) opens E8 Conference play on Tuesday, March 28 at Hartwick.


Notes: The Gators returned 20 players to this year's edition… Attacker Bailey Martin (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central) headlines the group…The grad student, the first RSC player to total 100 career points, scored a program-record nine goals in the March 18 win at Saint Joseph's University – Long Island…Sophomore defender Joe Johnson (Gansevoort, NY/South Glens Falls), senior attacker Anthony Abreu (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township), and junior midfielder Jake McElwee (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) were voted co-captains.
