Men's lacrosse bests unbeaten CMSV, 17-8

Riverdale, NY – Russell Sage College's men's lacrosse team was in action on Wednesday night facing the College of Mt. St. Vincent in a non-conference game. The Gators took a 3-1 lead after the first quarter and then held an 11-2 lead at the half and cruised to a 17-8 win, handing the Dolphins their first loss of the season. RSC improves to 2-5, while CMSV is now 2-1.

 

Senior attacker Anthony Abreu (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township) led the Gators with his   points on   goals and assists. Graduate performer Bailey Martin (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central) had five points on three goals with two assists. Martin now has 107 career points and holds the school career marks for most points as well as most goals (68) and most assists (39).

 

Freshman attackman Nate Kettle (Killbuck, NY/Salamanca) had a banner night with his four goals and an assist as eight different Gators scored in the match.

 

Graduate performer Shea Obado (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) added two goals with an assist. Obado also added six ground balls with one caused turnover. He continues to add to several Sage program records in both categories as well with 186 ground balls and 51 caused turnovers and now has 72 career points which ranks third on 48 goals with 24 assists.

 

RSC's rookie goalie Andrew Collora (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) made the start and worked 57 plus minutes in earning the win and is now 2-5 in net. He made 10 saves with seven goals allowed. Sophomore keeper Erik Reynolds (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) entered the game with 2:14 left in the fourth and allowed one goal with one save.

 

The Gators wrap a busy week travelling to Long Island where they will face St. Joseph's (LI) on March 18 at 1p.m. and then take on Farmingdale State at Noon on Sunday, March 19.
