Martin eclipses 100 career point plateau; Gators fall to Gordon

Norfolk, VA – Russell Sage College's men's lacrosse team faced Gordon College on Tuesday afternoon in Virginia on their spring training trip. Gordon held a 10-9 lead at the half as there were seven lead changes in the first half. Gordon used a strong third quarter to take the lead and held on for a 20-12 victory. RSC stands at 1-5 on the year, while Gordon is now 1-2.

Graduate performer Bailey Martin (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central) became the first player in RSC men's lacrosse history to record 100 career points. Martin, who had two first half goals to score his 100th career point, finished the day with three goals and an assist with a pair of ground balls. Martin now has 102 career points and holds the school career marks for most points as well as most goals (65) and most assists (37).

Sophomore attackman Kollin Matthews (Marcy, NY/Whitesboro) added three goals with an assist in the action, while graduate performer Shea Obado (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) added two goals with an assist. Obado also added five ground balls with four caused turnovers and holds the program records in both categories as well with 180 ground balls and 50 caused turnovers and now has 69 career points which ranks third on 46 goals with 23 assists.

Gordon's Jackson Wright led all scorers with his seven points of four goals with three assists, while six others finished with multiple points in the game.

RSC's rookie goalie Andrew Collora (West Babylon, NY/West Babylon) made the start and worked the first half allowing 10 goals in 30 minutes of work and took the loss (1-5). At the half, sophomore keeper Erik Reynolds (South Glens Falls, NY/South Glens Falls) entered the game and had three saves in his 30 minutes of work with 10 goals allowed.

RSC is back in action on the road at the College of Mt. St. Vincent for a 6 p.m. non-conference game on March 15.
