RSC Offense Excels at Castleton

CASTLETON, Vt. –  Russell Sage College returned to the win column with tonight's 21-10 victory at Castleton. The Gators (5-4), which scored 20+ goals in a game for the second time this spring, led 5-1 after the opening quarter and 10-4 at the break.

RSC had seven players register multiple points in the non-conference victory.

Senior attackman Bailey Martin (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central) topped the victors with eight points on five goals and three assists. Sophomore midfielder Jake McElwee (Jackson, NJ/Jackson Liberty) (above) added seven points, three goals and four assists, while attackman Hunter Brunelle (Skaneateles, NY/Jordan-Elbridge), a grad student, totaled four goals and two assists. Junior attackman Anthony Abreu (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township) contributed six points on two goals and four assists, and six groundballs, while sophomore midfielder Dean Sampson (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) went 15-for-25 in the X.

Senior midfielder Collins Johnson and sophomore midfielder Hunter Sarro recorded two goals and an assist apiece to lead Castleton (0-6)

RSC opens Empire 8 Conference play on Friday night when Hartwick comes to town. The opening face-off is set for 7:00 PM.


Notes: The 21 goals was tied for second-most in a game for the Gators...The program record is 23 (March 2, 2020 vs. Mitchell)...RSC has tallied three of the top-five single-game performances for goals this spring...The Gators are averaging 17.6 goals per-game in their five wins.
