Men's lacrosse falls to Utica

Utica, NY —The Gators of Russell Sage College traveled to Utica College on Wednesday afternoon for an Empire 8 contest. Utica posted the 16-9 victory to improve to 4-0 and 2-0 in the Empire 8, while the Gators are now 0-2 overall and in the league.

RSC's junior attackers Robert Martin (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) and Bailey Martin (Syracuse, NY/Onondaga Central) and rookie Anthony Marrone (Monroe, NJ/Monroe Township) all scored for the Gators as Bailey Martin added three goals with an assist, while Robert Martin had two goals. Robert Martin is the program's all-time leading point scorer as he now has 84 points and also holds the career goal scoring mark with 47 after Wednesday's action. Bailey Martin ranks sixth in career points with 27, while standing fifth in goals with 20.

Junior midfielder Shea Obado (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) had four ground balls with a pair of caused turnovers, while rookie midfielder Dean Sampson (Staten Island, NY/Tottenville) was 7-14 on face-offs with two ground balls as well in the game. Obado leads the program with his 121 career ground balls while adding a career mark for most caused turnovers with 28.

Sage's s junior goalie Michael Capitelli (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) made 18 saves in the contest and stands at 0-2 after allowing 16 goals in the contest. He continues to add to his active career saves mark and now has 200 saves in his time with the Gators.

The Gators will travel to Nazareth College on April 10 for a 3 p.m. Empire 8 match-up.
