Albany, NY —The Sage Colleges' men's lacrosse team has selected Chris Joyce (Albany, NY/Bethlehem) as a volunteer assistant coach for the men's lacrosse program. Joyce joins the Gators after spending five seasons as the head assistant at Hudson Valley Community College. While there, he served as the defensive coordinator and lead recruiter. During his time at HVCC, he helped orchestrate a full rebuild of the program, turning a one-win team into a nationally-ranked Region III contender. After the 2019 season, Joyce received the Phil Brown Award, presented to the Assistant Coach of the Year at HVCC.

Head men's lacrosse coach Ryan Lanigan said of Joyce's selection, "Sage's men's lacrosse program is very fortunate to have Chris Joyce on our staff." Lanigan added, "Having coached for six years in the Capital Region at the collegiate level prior to Sage, he brings a wealth of experience to our young program. His strong local ties and connections will help aid in our efforts to keep the best players close to home and playing for Sage. His leadership, relentless recruiting efforts, and unique perspective of the game will help take our program to the next level."

He also served as head coach of the Beverwyck Renegades varsity travel program for three years and is currently the head coach of the Newburgh Night Pandas of the Interstate Box Lacrosse Association (IBLA).

Joyce is a 2011 graduate of St. John's University, where he earned his undergraduate degree in sports management and also achieved his MBA from there as well in 2014. He currently works for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association.
