Record setting performance by Capitelli not enough as Sage falls to Skidmore

Saratoga Springs, NY —Skidmore College opened their 2020 men's lacrosse season on Tuesday afternoon hosting Sage in a non-conference contest. The Thoroughbreds posted a 20-3 win to improve to 1-0, while Sage drops to 0-2.

Skidmore jumped out to a 7-0 lead after the first quarter before Sage's senior attackman Adante Simpson (Copiague, NY/Copiague) put the Gators on the scoreboard. Sophomore attacker Robert Martin (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) and sophomore attackman Bailey Martin (Syracuse, NY/Onandaga Central) each scored for the Gators in the game as well.

Skidmore got a pair of goals from six different players, while three players also had three points in the contest. Skidmore peppered Sage's s sophomore goalie Michael Capitelli (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) with 71 shots as he made 30 saves. The 30 saves is a Sage single-game record for saves.

Sage returns to action on February 29 travelling o Farmingdale State University for a 3:30 p.m. non-conference contest with the Rams.
