Obado, Parker score in men's lacrosse game at Nazareth

Rochester, NY — Anthony Basile and Jack Crowley had six points each for the Nazareth College men's lacrosse game in a 22-2 home win over The Sage Colleges in an Empire 8 Conference contest Saturday afternoon at Golden Flyer Stadium. Nazareth stands 4-3 in the league and 6-10 overall while Sage, in the first season of competition, is 2-5 in the league and 8-8 overall.

Basile had three goals and three assists while Jack Crowley had four assists with his two goals for the Golden Flyers. Mike Riis had a game high four scores with an assist and Jon Parrinello scored three times. Drew McNerney had a goal and three points and Matthew Vanliew assisted on three goals. Tristan Gosselin scored twice and the hosts got single scores from Jeremy Jacob, Walker Denton, Matthew Townsend, Jon Roth, Keaton Doon and Evan Isenberg. Three goalkeepers saw action in the Nazareth cage, led by game winner Eric Almquist, who made one stop in the first 15 minutes of action.

Freshman midfielder Shea Obado (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) and freshman midfielder Adam Parker (Quechee, VT/Hartford) each scored for the Gators. Freshman attack Eric Fairhurst (Wooster, OH/Wooster) had three shots. Freshmen Brandon Maresca (Landing, NJ/Roxbury) made five saves for the Gators in 14:40 and freshman Troy Schweitzer (Pittsfield, MA/Taconic) stopped three shots in 45:20.

The Golden Flyers outshot the Gators, 38-13, but the Gators forced 22 of the 46 turnovers in the game. Sage was 18 for 22 on clear attempts while the hosts were 21 for 22. Nazareth had 66 ground balls and won 24 faceoffs.

Sage has one regular season game remaining, and it will be Senior Day on Saturday, April 27 vs. St. John Fisher. That game will be played at 1 p.m. at Sullivan Field at the Plumeri Sports Complex in Albany, NY. Nazareth also has one regular season game remaining, an Empire 8 game on Saturday, April 27 at Alfred at 1 p.m.
