#11 Stevens wins men's lacrosse league matchup

Albany, NY— Ryan Gebhardt scored three goals and 16 different players scored as #11 Stevens Institute of Technology's men's lacrosse team defeated The Sage Colleges, 23-1 in an Empire 8 game Sunday afternoon at ACP Field. The nationally ranked Ducks are now 3-0 in league play and 10-2 overall. The Gators, in the first season in program history, stand 0-2 in the league and 5-4 for the season.

The Ducks got two goals each form Max Ranaldi, Max Bailey, Sean Kunz, Brendan Monteleone and Tyler Ryan in the victory. Joe Ballai had three assists and Max Bailey added two assists for the visitors. Five goalies saw action for Stevens, and Carson White was the winner to improve to 10-1 after two saves in nearly 16 minutes.

Stevens outshot Sage, 51-11 and had a 48-25 ground ball advantage. The Ducks converted 11 of the 13 clear attempts and won 18 of 28 faceoffs.

Freshman midfielder David Baraniuk (Budd Lake, NY/Mount Olive) scored for Sage with his 22nd with 7:14 left in the third period. The Ducks led 8-0 after one and 17-0 at half but were held to two goals in the third period. Freshmen Brandon Maresca (Landing, NJ/Roxbury) made six saves in just under 25 minutes of action and freshman Michael Capitelli (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) stopped five in just over 35 minutes in the Sage cage.

Sage plays at Empire 8 rival Utica College on Wednesday, April 3 at 4 p.m. Stevens is at Alfred University in an Empire 8 game Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m.
