Sage men's lacrosse players among NCAA National Statistical Rankings

Indianapolis, IN— The Sage Gators men's lacrosse team is a newcomer to the NCAA Division III ranks, but with the release of the latest NCAA Division III men's lacrosse statistics, Sage has a number of performers listed in the newest rankings under the guidance of rookie head coach Ryan Lanigan.

Sage stands at 1-2 on the young season as the Gators posted the program's first win on March 9 beating Medaille College, 13-12 in overtime.

Freshman midfielder Robert Martin (Saugerties, NY/Saugerties) is ranked No. 12 in the nation with his 3.33 assists per game average. Martin is the team's leader in points as he has 11 points on one goal with 10 assists. He added a single-game record for the young Gators with nine in the road win over Medaille.

Rookie midfielder Shea Obado (Spotswood, NJ/Spotswood) is also ranked in the Top players ranked as he is currently No. 150 with his 1.67 assists per game average as he has 5 assists. Obado is also ranked 147th in ground balls per game with 5.0 per game, while Martin is also ranked (243) in points per game with a 3.67 average.

Rookie attackman Matt Fisher (Niskayuna, NY/South Colonie) also stands No. 14 in shot percentage as he has a .600 shooting average with six goals on 10 shots. Rookie long stick defenseman Anthony Rafferty (Albany, NY/Colonie Central) is ranked No. 86 nationally with a 2.33 caused turnovers per game average.

In goal for the Gators, rookies Brandon Maresca (Landing, NJ/Roxbury) and Michael Capitelli (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) are also nationally ranked in the Top 200 players with theoir saves per game average. Maresca is averaging 8.67 saves per game, while Capitelli is averaging 7.33 on the young season.

Sage returns to action on March 16 hosting SUNY-Cobleskill in a 1 p.m. non-conference match at ACP Field.
