RSC men's golfers stand in fifth after day one of Empire 8 Spring Championship

Hershey, PA – Russell Sage College men's golf team opened play on Saturday at the first day of the 2023 Empire 8 Spring Championship, which is being held at Hershey Country Club East. The course is a par 71, 6,653 yard course.

After day one of the spring event, St. John Fisher University has the team lead with a score of (293) and is paced by the play of Nick Tellone, who shot four under par on is the leader in the club house after he had a 67 on Saturday.

The Gators are in fifth place (347) in the team standings. Leading the way for RSC is junior Austin Carpenter (Peru, NY/Peru) who is tied for tied for fourth with his round of 77.

Sophomore Shane Kammerman (Cortlandt Manor, NY/Walter Panas) is tied for 12th after he shot an 82. Sophomore Elijah Waterhouse (Lake Luzerne, NY/Lake Luzerne) carded a 90 and is tied for 26. Junior Evan Austin (Latham, NY/Shaker) posted a 103 and is in 45th place, while rookie Hunter Brenneis (Lynbrook, NY/Lynbrook) shot a 108 and is 47th.

Action wraps on Sunday as the 2022-2023 Empire 8 Team Champion will be crowned and earn the league's automatic bid to the 2023 NCAA Division II Championship.
