Stuart Phair
At Sage:
- Stuart Phair arrived at Sage from Australia and is from Canberra. As a newcomer to Sage in 2018-2019, he played on the men’s basketball team. He was saluted once as the Empire 8 Rookie of the Week after a banner week with career highs of 20 points and 11 rebounds as Sage beat St. Joseph’s-Brooklyn last November.
- As a member of the basketball team in 2019-2020, he helped to lead the Gators to their first Empire 8 Tournament appearance. A starter in all 26 games, he added a personal-best 7.4 ppg with 5.5 rpg. He also led the team with 35 blocks.
- Along the way as a sophomore he added a pair of double-doubles, while finishing in double digit scoring 10 times. He added a career-high for points and rebounds after scoring 22 points with 13 rebounds as Sage beat Maine-Presque Isle.
- A newcomer to the golf team this in the fall of 2019, Phair is another of the Gators’ two-sport athletes.
- Competing at the 2019 Empire 8 Fall Championship, Phair continued to improve upon his play. He took home 23rd place after carding an 84 on the final day to finish with a 172 (88-84).
- As a member of this year’s men’s basketball team, Phair helped the Gators to their second consecutive Empire 8 tournament appearance. The 2021 Gators advanced to the semifinals and capped the season with a 4-6 record. Phair was a 10-game starter and finished the season leading the Gators with his 16 blocks, while adding 8.4 ppg and 5.6 rpb.
- Phair, who is a candidate for the 2021 CoSIDA Academic All-America Academic Team, is already 22nd on the career scoring list with 369 points, while ranking 13th in rebounding with 263 boards.
- Phair has 64 career blocks and is third on the Gator career list, while also ranking in field goal percentage (12th) with his 50.2% field goal percentage.
- As a junior with the men's golf team, Phair had a strong showing at the 2021 Empire 8 Spring Championship. He finished in 20th at the Championships with a 175 (89-86) and was named to the Sportsman Team for his performance.
Academics at Sage:
- He was named to the Empire 8 Presidents’ List in the Fall of 2019 and the Spring of 2020 after also earning a spot as a Sage Scholar-Athlete honoree as well.
- Phair is very active with Sage’s SAAC and is a regular participant in the Chompers’ Reading Program.
