Golf team opens play at 2019 Empire 8 Spring Championship

Hershey, PA—The Sage Colleges' men's golf team opened play on Saturday at the 2019 Empire 8 Spring Championship at the Hershey Country Club, playing on the East Course, a par 71 course with a distance of 6,584 yards. St. John Fisher College holds the lead in the team standings with a 373 for the first day, while Sage is currently eighth with a round of 373.

Stevens Institute of Technology's Jack Doherty holds the lead with his round of 73 on the first day of the tournament.

Sage's sophomore Blake Pritchard (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) is tied for 24th with his round of 85, while  junior Tyler Schnaible (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) is tied for 34th with an opening day round of 89. Freshman Aidan O'Neil (Canajoharie, NY/Canajoharie) carded a 95 and is tied for 39th place, junior Jared Almy (Howes Cave, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) carded a 104 and is in 42nd place.

Action wraps on Sunday for the second day of the league's spring championship.
