Gator golf team finishes in 8th at 2018 Empire 8 Spring Championship

Hershey, PA – The Sage Colleges' men's golf team wrapped competition on Sunday at the 2018 Empire 8 Spring Championship. The two-day tournament was being held at the Hershey Country Club, a par 71, 6,551 yard course. St. John Fisher College won the team title despite Sunday's terrible weather conditions, that included cold temperatures, rain and gusting winds. The Cardinals shot a two-day 636 (304-332) to win the spring championship. SJFC's Nick Calabrese won the medalist title after carding a 155 on an opening day round of 73 and Sunday's 82. Sage finished in eighth place at the championship after posting an 848 on the tournament (399-449).

 

For the Gators, rookie Blake Pritchard (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) led the squad with his tie for 27th place after shooting a two-day score of 182 (84-98).   Sophomore Tyler Schnaible (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) posted 39th place finish with a 203 (93-110).   Sophomore Jared Almy (Howes Cave, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) carded a 216 (104-112) and finished in 43rd place. Senior Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) recorded 44th place after shooting 247 on rounds of 118 and 129.
