Sage men's golf team stands in 8th after Day one of Spring Empire 8 Championship

Hershey, PA – The Sage Colleges' men's golf team opened their spring season on Saturday, competing at the 2018 Empire 8 Spring Championship. The two-day tournament is being held at the Hershey Country Club, a par 71, 6,551 yard course. St. John Fisher College boasts the top team score through the first day with a 304, while Sage is in eighth place with a 399. SJFC's Nick Calabrese fired a 73 on the opening day, despite the windy conditions to stand in first after the opening day. The tournament wraps on Sunday as the Gators will tee off at 9 a.m.

For the Gators, rookie Blake Pritchard (Malone, NY/Franklin Academy) leads the squad with his 84 and is currently tied for 16th. Sophomore Tyler Schnaible (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) posted a round of 93 and is tied for 33rd.  Sophomore Jared Almy (Howes Cave, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) cared a 104 and is tied for 40, while senior Ryan Guyton (Lockport, NY/Lockport) carded a 118 and is tied for 44th place.
