Gators open new season at Cobleskill Invitational

Cobleskill, NY---The Sage Colleges' men's golf team opened the 2016 campaign on Friday afternoon competing at the 2016 Cobleskill Fighting Tiger Invitational at SUNY-Cobleskill. The Gators posted a ninth place finish at the SUNY-Cobleskill Golf Course, a par 70 6,163 yard course. The host Fighting Tigers won the nine team tournament after posting a round of 307 for the day and produced the medalist as Ian Wilson fired a round of 73.

Leading the way with an 84 on the day was junior Casey Fitzpatrick (Haverill, MA/Haverill) as he tied for 18th place. Rookie Tyler Schnaible (Ballston Lake, NY/Shenendehowa) carded a 111 to take 51st. Sophomore Austin Laverty (Schenectady, NY/Mohonasen) carded a 113 to pick up 52nd place. Rookie Jared Almy (Howes Cave, NY/Cobleskill-Richmondville) had a 122 and took 53rd place.

Sage returns to action on Sunday, September 19 when they travel to compete with Yeshiva University at the Split Rock Golf Course.
