Gator golfers open spring season at Elms Invitational

Granby, MAThe Sage Colleges' men's golf team opened the 2016 spring season on Tuesday competing at the Elms College Blazer Spring Invitational at Westover Country Club. A par 72 course, Babson's Lukas Linemayer shot a 74 on the day to finish as the medalist and lead his team to the team crown as well as Babson posted a round of 323 for the day.  Sage finished in seventh place in the eight-team tournament after the Gators shot a 434 for the day.

Leading the way for the Gators was rookie Ryan Fairweather (Middletown, NY/Minisink Valley) as he finished in 31st place with a round of 102 in his Sage golf debut. Sophomore Kevin Saar (Binghamton, NY/Windsor Central) fired a 106 on the day and was 33rd.

Senior Dan Schilde (Sharon Springs, NY/Sharon Springs Central) posted a 110 for the debut and was 34th, just ahead of senior Melvin Ford (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern Regional), who carded a 116 and was 35th. Junior Brett Ullman (Sharon Springs, NY/Sharon Springs Central) posted a 117 and was 36th for Sage.

Sage will wrap the 2016 season on Friday, April 29 travelling to the SUNY-Cobleskill Spring Invitational with a noon start.
