Ioele paces Sage at Elms Invitational

Granby, MA – The Sage Colleges' men's golf team competed on Wednesday at the Elms College Spring Invitational at Westover Country Club. Rhode Island College won the 11 team competition after posting a round of 307 on the day. Sage picked up 10th place after combining for a 397.

After three golfers finished in a three-way tie after shooting a 75 for the day, Worcester State's David Rixham finished as the medalist after was a winner after playing six playoff holes.

Sage's senior DJ Ioele (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) carded a 76 to finish in fifth place as the top Gator at the event. The round marked the final collegiate round for Ioele as he led Sage in both spring meets.

Sophomore Sam Moquin (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet) posted a 104 and took 45th place. Rookie Dylan Dotterer (Craryville, NY/Taconic Hills) had a 105 and finished in 46th place, while freshman Caelan Kohut (Ancram, NY/Hudson) posted a 112 and tied for 48th place. Senior Jacob Sopchak (Rhinebeck, NY/Rhinebeck) carded a 117 and picked up 50th place in his final match after competing for the Gators this spring.

The Gators wrapped the 2014-2015 season and will be back in action next fall.
