Gators led by play of Johnson as they take ninth at Elms Invitational

Granby, MA---The Sage Colleges' men's golf team competed on Wednesday at the Elms College Trailblazer Invitational at Westover Country Club. Rhode Island College won the event with a round of 309, while Sage finished in ninth place with a round of 330. RIC's Jonathan Cooper was the medalist with a 72.

Rhode Island College won the event with a score of 309, followed by Castleton State College at 312. Trailing Elms was Nichols (323), Westfield State (324), Babson "Green" (324), Worcester State (328), Babson "White" (328), Sage (330), Newbury (338), Daniel Webster (346), Norwich (350), Emmanuel (353), Becker (376), Mitchell (387), and Eastern Nazarene (480).

Sage's team was led by the play of 2013 Skyline Conference Rookie of the Year, sophomore Kevin Johnston (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville) carded a round of 74 for the day. Senior captain Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Burnt Hill-Ballston Lake) shot a 79. Senior DJ Ioele (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) added an 81 for the day, while sSophomore Henry Taylor (Delmar, NY/Bethlehem) rounded out Sage's scorers with his 96. Sophomore Sam Moquin (Watervliet, NY/Watervliet) carded a 97 as well for Sage.

Sage returns to action on September 26 at the Farmingdale State College Ram Invitational on Friday at the Bethpage Red Course with an 11 a.m. start time.
