Sage Names Ian Pingelski Men's Golf Coach

Albany, NY – The Sage College's department of athletics announces the selection of Ian Pingelski (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) as the new head men's golf coach for the Gators. Pingelski replaces Luke Scala, who departed Sage in June to spend more time with his family.

Director of Athletics and Recreation, Dani Drews said of her selection, "Today marks a first for Sage Athletics as we are able to hire one of our best and brightest former Sage College of Albany student-athletes to lead our men's golf program."

Drews continued, "Ian distinguished himself during his time at Sage as a great competitor and gentleman.  We are thrilled that he is taking over, where his former mentor, Luke Scala, left off."  

A team captain for the Gators during his career, Pingelski helped the Sage men's team as the 2011 and 2012 team finished as the Skyline Conference runner-up and the 2011 team garnered the Skyline Conference Sportsmanship Award.

The 2010-2011 Sage Gator of the Year winner as the 2010-2011 team's Most Valuable Player, he also distinguished himself throughout his career. A 2012 business administration graduate from the Sage College of Albany, he has worked at Sunward Electronics, Inc. since 2013 and currently works as an assistant account manager with the company as well as a marketing and territory advisor.

A former assistant golf pro at Van Schaick Island Country Club, he also spent time as a member of the VSICC Membership Committee and worked for five years as a pro-shop attendant also at Van Schaick.

A former all-star golfer and baseball performer at Cohoes High School, he earned numerous awards in baseball and golf, having served as a team captain, while garnering MVP in both sports. He was also a First-Team Colonial Council honoree in baseball three years, while also excelling academically.
