Hampden, MA---- The Sage Colleges men's golf team competed on Sunday at the 2011 ECAC Division III Championships at Hampden Country Club. The tournament was shortened from a two-day 36-hole event to just one day and 18 holes on Sunday after Saturday's action was rained out.
Salem State University won the 16 team event after shooting a 297 for the par 72 course, while Sage finished in 14th place with a 340 for the event. The medalist also from Salem State, Nick Zolotas carded a 70, two under par to win the event. The appearance at the tournament was a first for the Gators in the four-year history of the young program.
Next up for the Gators is the Sage Fall Invitational on October 15 at Sycamore Country Club (Ravena, NY) with a noon shotgun start.

Sage's sophomore Zach Meade (Tupper Lake, NY/Tupper Lake) shot an 83 for the tournament, while junior Ian Pingelski (Cohoes, NY/Cohoes) had an 84. Junior Dan Schulz (Broadalbin, NY/Broadalbin Perth) carded a 85, while sophomore Rich Christman (Johnstown, NY/Johnstown) finished with an 88 as did sophomore Zach Sullivan (Ballston Spa, NY/Ballston Lake) added an 88.
