Gators Open Final Weekend vs. Cardinals

ALBANY, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College opened the final weekend of its season by dropping tonight's Empire 8 Conference game to Saint John Fisher 93-66.

Sophomore guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls), one of three Gators in double figures, scored a game-high 14 points.

Guard Ryan Long (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park), a graduate student, added 11 points, while freshman guard Mike McLaughlin (Clearwater, FL/Clearwater) registered 10.

St. John Fisher (17-7/13-4 E8) shot 52.1 percent from the field, including 40.0 percent from beyond the arc, in the road victory.

Senior forward Daniel Cook, named the Co-E8 Player of the Week, provided the Cardinals, which never trailed, a double-double of 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting and 12 rebounds.

Looking ahead, RSC (4-20/2-15 E8) wraps up the season tomorrow at 4:00 pm vs. Nazareth.


Notes: The Gators, coming off an Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament appearance, graduated all five starters from last season…Nine players, accounting for just 21.22 percent of scoring and 16.82 percent of rebounding, are back…They joined nine newcomers to make up this year's roster…Sophomore guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) and guard Ryan Long (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park), a graduate student, were voted co-captains...Head Coach Brian Barnes, now in his 14th season, began the campaign with a 167-153 overall record.
