Gators Work Overtime in Road Finale

BUFFALO, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College closed the road portion of its schedule with this afternoon's 74-72 overtime Empire 8 Conference setback at Medaille.

The Gators had four players tally double figures during the E8 matinee.

Junior guard/forward Jackson Brown (Latham, NY/Catholic Central/Fredonia State) led the quartet with 20 points on 6-of-18 shooting. He registered 16 of his points in the second period of regulation, helping RSC erase a 12-point halftime deficit to force overtime.

Guard Ryan Long (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park), a graduate student, added 18 points, while sophomore guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls), and junior forward Tahirou Hamidou (Bronx, NY/Carolina Basketball Academy/Livingstone) scored 12 and 10 points respectively.

Sophomore guard Daunte Wilcott paced Medaille (8-15/6-10 E8) with 17 points.

Looking ahead, RSC (4-19/2-14 E8) wraps up the campaign with home games on Friday vs. Saint John Fisher and Saturday vs. Nazareth.


Notes: The Gators, coming off an Empire 8 Conference Championship Tournament appearance, graduated all five starters from last season…Nine players, accounting for just 21.22 percent of scoring and 16.82 percent of rebounding, are back…They joined nine newcomers to make up this year's roster…Sophomore guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) and guard Ryan Long (Averill Park, NY/Averill Park), a graduate student, were voted co-captains...Head Coach Brian Barnes, now in his 14th season, began the campaign with a 167-153 overall record.
