Gators drop contest to Keuka in E8 regular-season finale

Keuka Park, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College men's basketball team was on the road at Keuka College on Saturday in the team's Empire 8 regular-season finale. After holding a 30-21 lead at the break, the Gators fell cold and dropped a 63-59 road game to the Wolves. RSC stands at 13-12 overall and 7-9 in the Empire 8, while the Keuka is now 4-19 overall and 4-11 in the league.

RSC's senior guard Amani Cummings (Brooklyn, NY/Transit Tech) connected for 11 points in the action, while senior guard Jalon Borders (Bartow, FL/Bartow) finished the contest with 10 points and six rebounds.

Rookie forward Todd Williamson (Schenectady, NY/Notre Dame Bishop Gibbons) had 10 points off the bench with six rebounds, while senior Fethener Aime (Palm Coast, FL/Flagler Palm Coast) racked up seven rebounds with two assists and a steal for the Gators.  

Senior forward/center Stuart Phair (Canberra, Australia/Tyler Christian School), had a team-best eight rebounds with five points.  Rookie guard Noah Girard (Glens Falls, NY/Glens Falls) added nine points for RSC.

Phair, who is second with his 107 career blocked shots, is also sixth in career rebounding with 428, while Borders is eight with 384 boards. Borders, who is the program's third all-time leading scorer with 1,075 points, is also fifth on the Gator career list having started 71 games as a Gator, Phair checks in 10th with his 82 career appearances.  Aime is 12th now in career rebounding (333),while ranking 10th with his 42 career blocked shots.

The Gators have secured the No. 5 seed in the upcoming Empire 8 tournament and will travel to #4 seed Alfred University for the first round of the league championship on February 22. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. on Tuesday evening. The Gators have now secured post-season appearances ten times, including four consecutive spots in the Empire 8 Tournament.

Notes: Senior guard Jalon Borders (Bartow, FL/Bartow) became just the fourth Gator to score his 1,000th career point on Feb. 6 at St. John Fisher…The two-time first-team All-Conference pick sits third in program records with 1,075 career points…Senior forward/center Stuart Phair (Canberra, Australia/Tyler Christian School), who currently ranks second in program records for career blocks with 107, and senior forward Jason Geronimo (Orlando, FL/Colonial) are captains on the year's team…The pair both rank in the top eight on the program's career rebounding chart.
