RSC Pulls Away to Win 85-70 at SUNY Poly

UTICA, N.Y. –  Russell Sage College had four players score in double figures in this afternoon's 85-70 win at SUNY Poly.

Senior guard Jalon Borders (Bartow, FL/Bartow) led the quartet with a double-double of 23 points, on 8-of-14 shooting, and ten rebounds. Sophomore forward/center Will Ruiz (Bronx, NY/Wings Academy) and senior forward/center Fethener Aime (Palm Coast, FL/Flagler Palm Coast) each had a career-high 17 points, while senior guard Tyler Mitchell (Bronx, NY/All Hallows) (above) contributed 11 points and eight assists.

The Gators (4-1) used a 16-4 second half run to take control of the non-conference matinee. The effort helped RSC enjoy a double-digit advantage for the final 6:17.

Senior forward Josh Gregory, one of three Wildcats to score in twin figures, topped SUNY Poly (1-2) with 20 points, on 8-of-16 shooting, and nine rebounds. 

Looking ahead, Sage is in action on Tuesday at Mount Saint Mary College. The non-conference game is slated to begin at 5:00 pm.


Notes: The Gators have 11 players back in the fold this year…Borders a two-time first-team All-Empire 8 Conference headlines the group…He passed Ryan Sager '13 for seventh on the program's career points vs. Worcester State on November 12…Next on the list for Borders, now with 784 points, is Kai Deans '15 at 826.…Senior forward/center Stuart Phair (Canberra, Australia/Tyler Christian School), who ranks third in program annals with 73 career blocks, and senior forward Jason Geronimo (Orlando, FL/Colonial) are captains on the year's team…Head Coach Brian Barnes, now in his 13th season, added four players to the program.
