Alfred wins E8 contest, 101-66

Alfred, NY— Dom LeMorta scored a game high 25 points and Sage Brown scored 22 as Alfred University defeated The Sage Colleges, 101-66 Saturday afternoon at the Galanis Family Center. The Gators stand 10-14 for the season and 6-9 in the league while the Saxons now stand 17-4 overall and 10-2 in the Empire 8.

Cole Eells added 13 points and four players had four rebounds each for the Saxons, who used 15 players in the victory. Scott Stopera had a game high eight assists and the Saxons shot 59% for the game while hitting on 45% of the three-point attempts.

Freshman guard Jalon Borders (Bartow, FL/Bartow) scored a career and team high 23 points for Sage, and sophomore forward/center Joshua Gonzalez (Albany, NY/Canajoharie) scored 12 points with seven rebounds. Borders was joined by senior forward Chris Kidd (Troy, NY/Beacon) with six rebounds each. Sage shot 38% and outrebounded Alfred, 37-33.

Alfred jumped out to a 22-8 lead in the first 5:55 of the game, and took a 48-26 lead into halftime.

Sage will host Senior Night this Tuesday, February 12 at 7:30 p.m. vs. Hartwick at Kahl Gym. Alfred hosts Elmira also in Empire 8 play Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m.
