Borders' and Larson's banner night not enough as Gators fall to Stevens

Hoboken, NJ— The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team travelled to Stevens Institute of Technology on Tuesday evening for an Empire 8 match-up. The Ducks collected a 78-67 win to improve to 12-4 overall and 5-2 in the league. The loss puts Sage at 5-10 overall and 1-5 in the conference.

Sage held a 36-32 lead at the half as junior guard Christian Larson (Jacksonville, FL/Oakleaf) and rookie guard Jalon Borders (Bartow, FL/Bartow) each had nine points in the first stanza of play.

Stevens used a strong second half with some impressive shooting (51.7%) from the floor to overtake Sage and capture the league win.

For the game, Larson finished with a career-best 17 points, while making four of nine shots from three-point range. Borders added a career-best 15 points as well for Sage, while senior forward Chris Kidd (Troy, NY/Beacon) and rookie forward Jason Geronimo (Orlando, FL/Colonial) both hauled in seven rebounds in the game. Sophomore center Joshua Gonzalez (Albany, NY/Canajoharie) finished with nine points in the contest.

Sage is back in action on Friday, January 18 hosting Alfred University in Kahl Gym in a 7:30 p.m. Empire 8 contest.
