Gators drop road match-up to St. John Fisher, 75-65

Rochester, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team travelled to St. John Fisher College on Friday night for an Empire 8 contest. The Cardinals held a 42-30 lead at the half and despite Sage's outscoring the home team in the second half, fell 75-65 on the road. St. John Fisher improves to 10-8 overall and 5-4 in the league, while Sage falls to 7-10 overall and 2-6 in the conference.

After trailing at the half, Sage had a strong second half but could not overtake the Cardinals despite the play of several key players. By game's end, senior guard Jordan Devaughn (Jacksonville, FL/Flora McDonald Academy) racked up 12 points to lead Sage. Sage's junior center Kevin Lenehan (Delanson, NY/Duanesburg), senior forward Barceem Dukes (Gloversville, NY/Gloversville), and senior Stephen Paulk (West Palm Beach, FL/Palm Beach Lakes) all finished with 11 points for the Gators. Dukes added seven rebounds with a block on Friday. Paulk connected for three baskets from downtown in the contest, while senior guard Wayne Weir (Bronx, NY/Samuel Gompers) added seven points with four rebounds, three assists, two steals and a block against St. John Fisher.

Sage will return to action on Saturday, January 27 travelling to Nazareth College for a 2 p.m. Empire 8 contest.
