Gators drop Kings Point, 78-55 on Saturday

Kings Point, NY—The Sage Colleges' men's basketball team collected a 78-55 road win over the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday afternoon, garnering the team's third straight victory. With the win, Sage is now 14-9 overall and 10-4 in the league. Kings Point drops to 7-16 overall and 3-11 in the conference.

Sage's senior forward Marcus Patterson (Bronx, NY/Mount Saint Michael Academy) led the team with his 19 points and nine rebounds, just missing a double-double. With every appearance, Patterson is making his climb in the program's all-time record book.  After Saturday's action he has 940 points and is the Gators' fourth all-time time leading scorer, while ranking fourth as well with his 525 rebounds. He moved into the No. 3 spot in rebounding after surpassing Ryan Sager (521 rebounds, 2010-2013). He has also now played in 98 career games and is third all-time in appearances in a Sage men's basketball uniform.

Junior guard Wayne Weir (Bronx, NY/Samuel Gompers) added 15 points for Sage and poured in four three point baskets in the action.

As a team, Sage was red-hot from the line, shooting 90.9% after making 20-of-22 free throws. The Gators also held a strong edge on the boards, outrebounding Kings Point, 44-30.

Sage is back in action on February 14 hosting Purchase College in the final regular-season game of the year in Kahl Gym. Prior to the 8 p.m. Skyline Conference contest, Sage will honor their six seniors in conjunction with Senior Night.
